Under the name of sustainable building are grouped multiple ways to establish housing, building and shelter systems, with the common denominator of recycled and low-impact material usage. In fact, sustainable building can solve current housing problems (poor economic resources, pollution, lack of adaptation to local climate), by applying a combination of modern and traditional techniques.
Sustainable building supports the development of local communities as it creates linkages among constructors, with the environment and the community. It also offers an excellent opportunity to improve quality of life since it depends less on expensive resources.
Sustainable building is part of the permaculture design system and, as such, considers factors like human and natural habitats, local climate factors like winds, water, soil, vegetation, energy savings and thermal passive behaviors, and adequate forms for living.
